Sokokashiko

しばらく連絡が途絶えていた友人から久々にメールが来たのは３月。丁度私が日本へ里帰りする一ヶ月前。

何の前触れもなく送られて来たメッセージにはあっさりとした内容で「結婚します」と。

偶然のお知らせにも関わらず私の帰国を予知していたかのように、結婚式の日程は丁度私の東京滞在日と重なっていました。とても嬉しいお知らせです。

彼女とは私が学生時代ロンドン留学をしている時に出会って以来の友達。イギリスで一緒に沢山楽しい思い出を作った仲間の一人です。１０年以上前の思い出もまだ昨日の事のように感じるけど、あの頃はまさか彼女の結婚式を東京で見る事になるとは全く思ってもいなかったから不思議なもんです。

４月２０日、穏やかな東京の空の下、私の友人とその旦那さんがご家族に見守られ静かに素敵な式を挙げました。

純ちゃん、お幸せに。

Kekkonshiki = Wedding ceremony

It was a month before my flight back to Tokyo, I got an e-mail from one of my old friends saying she was getting married. That’s totally her style. Always sudden and surprising…, but what a great surprise this time. I hadn’t even told her that I was coming back to Tokyo in April at that time, but she already knew that I was going to be there anyway. Good friends need no explanation. Just have to show up.

April 20th, 2012, it was a peaceful and pleasant day. My friend Junko looked so beautiful and happy. It was magical.
