ここは今回パリで泊まらせもらったお家の中です。入り口のドアを開けて足を一歩踏み入れたとたん胸がドキドキさせられたほど素敵なインテリア。

真っ白い壁、木の床と天井、白のフレンチリネンでまとめられたソファやクッション。この優しい感じのシンプルで落ち着くフレンチスタイルが大好きです。さりげなくテーブルに置いてあるリネンのキッチンタオルもここにあると素敵なディスプレイのよう。

コンパクトなキッチンもとても可愛いくデザインされていました。白い壁と階段のペイントの色の組み合わせもとても印象的でここをデザインしたした人のセンスの良さを感じます。ベッドルームとシャワールームは2階にあり、寝室の大きな窓からは玄関のお庭が眺められます。

このアパートメントで過ごした時間は私の数日感のパリ滞在をとてもスペシャルなものにしてくれました。こんな素敵な所で暮らせるライフスタイル、正に理想的です。

I wish I could have an apartment like this.

The perfect balance of white and wood, the cute compact kitchen, and the paint colour of the staircases, the couches and cushions covered in the antique French linen, and the open space with lots of sunshine from the large windows….

It was an exciting moment when we found out this was the place for us to stay for a couple of days in Paris. It totally made my trip extra special and I love everything about  this hidden spot in a secret garden. (Many special thanks to the kindest people who helped us.)

ある朝、早起きして時間があったので今回宿泊したアパートメントの周りの風景を写真に撮ってみました。

ここはパリの一角、外の道路に面したコンクリートの大きな壁の後ろにひっそり広がる別世界。小道を奥に進んでいった所に今回私達が泊まったアパートメントがあります。ここはパリのアーティスト達がアトリエとして使っているお洒落な建物が並ぶちょっとしたシークレットガーデンみたいでした。ひっそりとした中庭は沢山の緑に囲まれ心が自然と落ち着きます。こんな所で自分のアトリエを持ってアートワークが出来る人は幸せですね。

次回はアパートメントの中の様子を、、、。

Somewhere in Paris, we were taken to an apartment to stay for a couple of days. Behind the heavy door on a big concret building, who would’ve thought there was a place like this existed? The beautiful greens, the old rustic wooden fences, the cute little gardens and stylish Parisan artists’ atelier…. this place is like a dream.

It was too beautiful not to wake up early in the morning every day. The air was fresh, crisp and delicious.

ニューヨークのあるアパートメントに泊まっていた時の毎朝サブウェイに向かうまでのルート、私の目から見た風景はこんな感じでした。

朝、エスプレッソを飲みながらぼーっと眺めたのは窓から見える向かいの古いビルの窓たち。階段を下りて外に出てすぐの角を曲がるとそこはセントラルパークの入り口。毎日すぐ側を歩いていたのに結局一度も公園の中へは足を踏み入れることは無かったです。

サブウェイの入り口の向こうにはマンハッタンの慌ただしい一日が待っているのです。

先日どこからともなく軽く提案された鍋パーティーは，気がついたら私が準備係になっていました。場所は綺麗なアパートメントを持つ友人宅にて。

ディナーパーティーの担当なんて久々だったんでちょっと戸惑ったけど、「ま、どうにかなるか」とこの日の準備の過程を楽しんでくる事にしました。

自分の家でも８人分の料理を準備なんてした事ないのに，今回は人んちの台所で料理をするという更なるチャレンジに挑んできました。ま、鍋なので材料さえ切っちゃえば後は簡単なんですけど。

“Let’s have a Sunday dinner party.”

“We should do Nabe (Japanese hot pot).”

…and 2 days later, this is what happened.

I love it when a spontaneous idea or suggestion comes up and it actually happens in no time, nicely and easily.

The food was planned, the location was decided, and the friends were invited. Simply it was great. I didn’t quite know how I became the one to prepare the food this time, but my Sunday already started with a long shopping list in my hand.

昼から材料を買い込み夕方４時頃から友人宅で支度を開始。

All the groceries were brought to our friend’s kitchen in the early evening, and the Nabe was slowly getting ready.

みんなが集まるまでちょこちょこつまめるようにチーズとサラミ、クラッカーも用意しておきました。

７時くらいから友人たちが到着。自然にお喋りが始まります。

なぜか大根でしっかりポーズしてくれました　（笑）。

Thanks to our friend’s apartment (clean and beautiful), everything looked glorious already.

レモンを入れた鍋で熱々のおしぼりを用意中。

前菜のさっぱり大根サラダ。梅干し、お醤油、ごま油をベースに風味を効かしてみました。

Daikon Salad. (flavoured with sour plum, soy sauce, sesame oil and seaweed.)

さ、みんな揃ったのでいただきます。そう，今回はシーフードと鶏肉団子の入ったお鍋でボリュームたっぷり。

お鍋が始まると写真を撮ることも忘れて夢中で食べて喋って、、、。

こういうディナーパーティーは一旦はじまると病みつきになるのが分かります。仲間と一緒に美味しいものを食べながら楽しいひと時を過ごす、それがすごく良いんです。

Lots of vegetables, tofu, seafood, chicken meatballs… all cooked together in one big hot pot.
