思いもかけない贈り物って嬉しいもんです。

以前働いていた会社の仕事仲間（ニコール）が私の退社祝いに、って手渡してくれたのがこのポーチ。私は見たとたん思いっきり笑ってしまいました。

このパッチワークの生地に理由があるんです。

私が大好きなファッションブランド「チマラ」のジーンズやオーバーオールを彼女もすごく気に入って着てくれていて（以前私はバイヤーとしてチマラをセレクトしていたんです。）、でも彼女背が低いからパンツ系はいつもかなり裾あげしていたんです。

いつも冗談混じりで「こんなに生地切り落として捨てちゃうのもったいないし、全部とっておいたら鞄になるんじゃない？」って言ってたんです。

そしたら、ね？ほんとに鞄作ってました。

毎シーズンちょっとずつ違うヒッコリーストライプのパンツやオーバーオール、いつもお洒落に着こなしていたニコールは、こんな粋なこともしちゃう可愛い子なのです。

ほんっと、これは私にとってはユーモアと心のこもった優しい贈り物でした。

もらった日以来毎日愛用してます。ノートもカメラも細々したもの全部まとめて入っちゃうのが嬉しいサイズです。

“It’s a farewell present for you” , said Nicole, a good friend of mine (who used to be my coworker).

My eyes were wide open when she handed it to me. We both looked at each other and started laughing so hard.

This patchwork was made with the fabric that was cut off from her favourite jeans and overalls.
(and I recognize each of them clearly. They’re from my favourite Japanese brand called Chimala.) She kept all the (leftover) pieces of fabric after hemming and we used to joke about making bags with them.

Now here it is. She really made one.

I love it. I’ve been using it every single day since she gave it to me. It’s a perfect size to put all my notebooks, pens, mini Canon, and other little things together. It’s always in my bag (I like carrying small bags in my large bag.) wherever I go.

It was such a charming and thoughtful gift. This will always bring me back the nicest memory.

先日行ったプラント・セールでサキュラント（多肉植物）をいくつか買ってきました。多肉植物は、いろんな形が楽しめて、育てやすく、室内の明るい窓辺などに置いたりして、ちょっとしたインテリアの良いアクセントになります。

緑色のプラスティック容器に入ったままだとちょっと味気ないので、容器を移し替えてみることに。ちょうどこの前チャリティー・ショップで見つけて買って来た古い金属の計量カップ等があったので、それを利用する事にしました。植物を移し替えるのは簡単。ただ単にプラスティック容器からずぼっと土ごと手で入れ替えるだけです。

容器に使うのはきっと周りを見あたせば何でもあると思います。台所容器や空き容器も工夫次第でアレンジに幅を出してくれます。

These are some little gifts I made for my friends the other day. The mini succulents are from the plant sale on the weekend. I had some vintage silver metal cups in my house, so I decided to arrange the plants with them. I think anything can be used for plants as their home if you look around carefully with a new idea.
