重たいドアで塞がれ、薄暗い光の中でひっそりと観葉植物たちに囲まれた玄関口。分厚い鉄のドアの向こうは車やバイクが行き交う慌ただしい道、その逆の扉の向こうにはひっそりと中庭が広がります。
朝は無音の中庭を通り、扉を押し開けて外の現実へと目を覚ます瞬間がここからはじまり、夜は街の雑音を古い記憶のように耳から遠ざけてくれるフィルターのような空間でした。

This old hallway exists between the busy street noises and the complete silence of the backyard. Maybe it was only about 10 seconds, but it was a peaceful moment every day I enjoyed just before stepping into the outside world.

パリのアパートメントに泊まっていた時，毎朝この小さなお庭を通り抜けて外の道路に出ていました。
無数の鉢植えが無造作に置かれた中庭の風景。ランダムなようで、でもまるでどこか本の１ページから出て来たような完璧さも。
真っすぐ中央に立っているのは姫りんごの木。葉っぱは無く、赤い姫りんごだけが沢山なっていました。
ぽつぽつと空に水玉模様のように映った姫りんご、私はこの木がとても好きです。昔おじいちゃんとおばあちゃんの家の庭にも小さな姫りんごの木があったのをふと思い出しました。
大きなビルの壁に囲まれた一角，このひっそりした小さな空間にはなんだか別世界のような不思議な時間が流れていました。

A little magical place in Paris. I walked through this backyard every morning while I was staying at the lovely apartment. It is a crab apple tree standing in the middle of it. The tiny red apples were painting polka dots in the sky. It reminded me of the same tree that was in my grandparents’ garden in Japan. My old memories were suddenly awake.
The street noises were kept so far away behind the heavy door. Pleasant is the absolute stillness.

先日行ったプラント・セールでサキュラント（多肉植物）をいくつか買ってきました。多肉植物は、いろんな形が楽しめて、育てやすく、室内の明るい窓辺などに置いたりして、ちょっとしたインテリアの良いアクセントになります。
緑色のプラスティック容器に入ったままだとちょっと味気ないので、容器を移し替えてみることに。ちょうどこの前チャリティー・ショップで見つけて買って来た古い金属の計量カップ等があったので、それを利用する事にしました。植物を移し替えるのは簡単。ただ単にプラスティック容器からずぼっと土ごと手で入れ替えるだけです。
容器に使うのはきっと周りを見あたせば何でもあると思います。台所容器や空き容器も工夫次第でアレンジに幅を出してくれます。
These are some little gifts I made for my friends the other day. The mini succulents are from the plant sale on the weekend. I had some vintage silver metal cups in my house, so I decided to arrange the plants with them. I think anything can be used for plants as their home if you look around carefully with a new idea.
ビンテージ計量カップもこんな風に。傷がついてたり、錆びてたり、古い金属独特の質感がフレッシュな植物と対照的で素敵なバランスなんです。
The vintage kitchen measuring cups are perfect for the mini plants like this.
多分木の実かなんかの皮の入れ物（けっこう固くて丈夫）を友人からもらって使い道に困ってたけど、小さなサキュラントを添えてみるとこれが意外としっくり。
This is one of my favourites. Can anybody tell me what this cup/shell is? I want to know…
これはケイパーが入っていたガラス容器。この小さいサイズが可愛らしいのです。ひょこっとサキュラント入れ替えてみました。
Sometimes I keep the random glass jars in my kitchen cupboard (Capers were in this one), and I like when I find the good use of them.
窓際に並べてみました。容器を変えるだけて雰囲気が全然違います。
このあとは簡単にギフトラッピングをして友達にプレゼントしようと思ってます。
All I have to do now is to finish gift wrapping and deliver them to my dear friends!

今年は家の中にもうちょっと植物を増やそうと思う。
これからは枯らさないでちゃんと育てよう。
こんなかわいい植物屋さんが近くにあったらな〜。
I want to have more plants in my apartment this year. Lately I’m interested in garden design, too.
